Introduction

Hello,

I know that there are already tons of fellow bloggers and hobby chefs out there who write about their food experiences in restaurants, about their challenges of home cooking or simply about their favorite recipes.

Mine, however, isn't so much about reviewing restaurants or presenting fancy food, it's about great home-style cooked food the way I have learned it from my Great-Grandmother, Grandmother and Mother.

Being from Europe, my curiosity in food started early when I used to roam the kitchen of my Great-Grandma, watching her make one of my to-this-day favorite dishes: Her signature Beef Barley stew. I will post the recipe later down the road.

I grew up in a large family and when we all came together for birthdays, holidays and other occasions. There was always delicious, hearty homemade food involved, prepared the old-world way by my grandmas, great-aunts, aunts and other family members. And it was fun to watch them on every occasion. I occasional got kicked out of the kitchen due to space limitations, but always in a loving way and with an affectionate pat on my ass.

Today, numerous family recipes made their way over the big pond and I have enjoyed them the way they were prepared then. Hopefully I can convince some of the readers to give them a try. I also plan on posting recipes w/photos from my friends here, to add international "flavor" to this site.

Please check back regularly for more entries.

Happy Cooking!

Mike
