Coca Cola® in Classic Glass Bottles

Does anyone else remember those?

I do. I remember them from my childhood in the early 70's. Today, the Coca Cola® Company uses mostly plastic bottles. The glass ones are still around, although hard to come by, and the bottles pictured here are actually from Mexico.

When I saw these glass Coke® bottles on sale I had to buy a couple. Now, I'm not a big fan of sugary sodas, soft drinks and the like but it's like a flashback or trip back in time to my younger years, growing up. I still vividly remember the small Mom & Pop shop down the street from my Grandma's house which always had them in stock.

They were also found in Movie theaters, Soccer stadiums and Street food vendors had them. They were everywhere until they got replaced by today's plastic ones. Not to forget the 'hissing' sound they made when they were opened with a bottle opener. No twist cap back then.

Good times for a young kid!

Maybe it's just me but I believe that the Coca Cola® tastes much better and more like the old-times original out of those glass bottles than the soda of today, coming in plastic bottles. But perhaps that's just an illusion afterall.

Either way, they're a piece of nostalgia and pair well with a homemade cheeseburger.

Don't you think?
